The list of books I find useful for everyone who is connected with product, graphic and web design. They are not only interesting but quite pleasant to read too.
Design and Web Design
- The Design of Everyday Things by Donald A. Norman
It was the book that changed everything for me. It may seem like an exaggeration, but after that I stopped looking and started seeing what design really means.
- Neuro Web Design: What Makes Them Click? by Susan M. Weinschenk
- The Elements of User Experience: User-Centered Design for the Web by Jesse James Garrett
- Don't Make Me Think: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability by Steve Krug
If you read the first three books before this one as I did, the content of "Don't make me think" will be very familiar and you can get that déjà vu feeling that you already read it before. But I read it anyway rather as an effective repetition of previously learned material.
- Mobile First by Luke Wroblewski
- Responsove Web Design by Ethan Marcotte
- Redesign the Web by Smashing Magazine
Type
- Just My Type: A Book About Fonts by Simon Garfield
- The Education of a Typographer by Steven Heller
Collection of essays and interviews which helps to understand typography and its teaching and learning methods.
- Thinking with Type by Ellen Lupton
